Aida Khajavirad is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon university. She is a research assistant in Design Decision Laboratory (DDL) working under the supervision of Professor Jeremy Michalek. Aida 's research interests are complex system optmization using decomposition techniques, global optmization of nonconvex minlp problems, Genetic algorithms, product families and parallel and distributed computing.

Aida received her B.S. degree in Mechnical Engineering from University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran) in 2005 with thesis work on shape optmization using multi-objective genetic algorithms. During her undergraduate study, she was as a research asistant in Vehicle fuel and environment research institute of Univeristy of Tehran , and also in parallel processing lab in Aerospace Industries Organization research center where she was working on developing scalable parallel multi-block CFD solvers as well as parallel genetic algorithms.
