About Varun

Varun is a Mechanical Engineering Masters student at CMU and also a member of the Design Decisions Laboratory in the department. His primary area of research include 1)Implementing integer programming techniques to solve Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming problems and the analysis of the algorithms used and 2) Solving large-scale Hierarchical MINLPs using Analytical Target Cascading.

Prior to his graduate studies at CMU, Varun completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Anna University(batch of 2006) in India. Following this he worked as an intern in the rapid prototyping and experimental stress analysis group at Gas Turbines Research Establishment, Bangalore, India.

His extracurricular interests include soccer, fast cars and rock music.
